Peers Inspiring Peers

Peers Inspiring Peers is a not-for-profit organisation created to deliver structured peer support to those affected by acquired neurological conditions; for example, stroke, head injury or multiple sclerosis.

The LifeMoves Programme

LifeMoves is our 8 week structured peer support programme in which group members meet once a week in a facilitated environment to discuss the issues and challenges they are facing and share strategies to deal with them. The rationale for the LifeMoves programme is that people who share similar experiences and challenges best facilitate healthy psychosocial adjustment - peers inspiring peers. All LifeMoves facilitators have themselves been affected by an acquired neurological condition.

Programme benefits

Many people experience significant social and emotional consequences as a result of their brain injury, including anxiety, changes in identity and relationships, loss of self esteem and a diminished sense of autonomy. The LifeMoves programme empowers participants to openly express their feelings about, and seek solutions to their issues and challenges resulting from their neurological condition. Graduates of LifeMoves have said their self-esteem, confidence and community participation have all improved as a result of the programme.
